Today is the day.
Basement family room reveal day!
This project has been over 2 years in the making...
1 1/2 years of talking and dreaming, 1 year of construction, 4 major arguments, 2,358 gray hairs and 54 trips to Home Depot.
Regardless of the stress and headache, the basement is D-O-N-E and we are H-A-P-P-Y (and still married).
A brief revisit of where we started when we were still bright eyed and bushy tailed...
Enjoy...
For the shelves we used the same wood from Craft-Art that we

This past week has been one of the those, "If I could just get through this week..." kind of weeks.
I can remember saying that phrase a lot during college finals but now I'm saying it about normal, everyday life except the final is more about being able to survive three kids being sick, managing a construction site, working from home and trying to find time to take a shower during the week.
Calgon! Where the heck are you?
Just when I thought I was done for, reinforcement landed on my door
New / old front house lights.
Happy new year, Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Kwanzaa and all the rest...
Has it really been since Christmas that I last posted?
Well, it was a good little break.
Kids were home from school for the past 2 weeks and we spent some good old quality family time together doing a little playing, a little traveling, sharing a nasty cold, a little arguing, a little getting on each other's nerves...just normal family stuff.
But now it's back to normal life. We've been making some fun progress on
Projects happening around our house and a $5500. giveaway!
That's no typo!
You read that right...$5500 giveaway!
But first, I'm going to tease you with some house projects we've been working on.
2 1/2 years ago we remodeled this house. Even though it turned out to feel like a completely new house there were a lot of things left undone, unpainted, undecorated and unattended to. We were exhausted and done. Who cares that the baseboards were uncaulked and unpainted? The budget was blown and our inner remodeliva's were tired.
Fast forward a couple
DIY wall shelves and a giveaway!
I've decided to actually put some real thought and effort in to decorating this holiday.
This year's theme at my house is "It's a white Christmas" (would you expect any other color from me?).
One of the questions I ALWAYS get is, "How can you have so much white in your house with kids?"
My reply is always, "White keeps you honest".
When there's dirt somewhere, I see it and I clean it up (or just leave it). I don't like dirt to be camouflaged so I never know it's there.
On the flip side, did

Yesterday was a good day.
The tile guys finished grouting!
Woot! Woot!
I was downstairs dancing a happy dance on the tile all night.
Seriously better than a trip to Disneyland!
How awesome is this tile?!
Tile manufacturers have made huge strides in the world of faux wood ceramic tile.
We put ceramic wood tile in two other parts our home a couple years ago and it looks like tile that is trying to chameleon itself in to wood.
In other words, you can tell it ain't wood.
This ceramic wood
