When Home Depot asked me to spruce up my front door porch area as a participant in their Style Challenge, Holiday Edition I was a little intimidated. I love to decorate but holiday decorating always seems to elude me as a mom of three boys who works and blogs at 4men1lady.
So this was really going to be a challenge.

Since then we've replaced the front door (of course from Home Depot), updated the siding and replaced the

Making it through a renovation is kind of like catching a fly with chopsticks...
if you survive it you can accomplish anything.
I would have never believed a renovation could be as stressful as it was.
It completely turns your life upside down and oh, do I have some stories to tell.
It's been a long, laborious and expensive lesson project.
None the less, this house has a become a home.Without further adieu...

This is a shot when we first walked through the house and
DIY wall shelf.
Our entryway is much smaller in our current home compared to our Arizona entry.
Although small, it still needed a "moment" (got that from Nate Berkus.
I'm guessing the definition means something like a pause to look at something intentionally styled).
The entry is large enough that it would fit a narrow table but it would be tight and claustrophobic.
Instead I opted for an ever so petite wall shelf for mail, phone, hang purse and keys, etc.

Three years ago I tackled one of my most ambitious DIY projects ever of wrapping our entry with stripes.
