Weekly house update.

March 2, 2012 by Michelle Hinckley |

House is coming along but I’ll be honest…I’m completely construction weary.
I’m hoping I’ll be singing a different tune once moved in and settled but at this point, I’m emotionally spent.
Running back and forth to the house several times a day, babysitting tradesmen, trying to run my business from home, raising three boys by myself (husband is putting in long hours at the house when not at work), it’s all taking its toll.
There is just no time for everything that needs to get done.  Yesterday I plucked my eyebrows while waiting in the carpool line at school and I even fed my hungry kids shriveled hot dogs from 7-11 the other day.  Don’t ask me the last time I took a shower.  Yes, life has sunk to a new low. I’m ready for life to resume some normalcy.
Here are a few beauties that I’ve been belly aching over.
Anemone Light: Blue Key Studios.

Wood paneling…still needs paint.

Faucet by Kohler.

Loving my new concrete counter top.
Mike from Just Add Water did a fab job…more about him soon.

Kohler Faucet.
I think I may attempt to tile the backsplash myself.

Marble surround went in and I’m LOVING it!
Mantle being built and still needs to be installed.
Thanks to Italia Granite and MGS By Design Fabricators for a fab job!

I know it’s very difficult in what you’re going thru but things will get better. It’s sort of like child birth, you forget about how bad it was except in this case you get a beautiful house instead of a baby.

Things will get better! I don’t see your emails that often anymore (which is totally ok!) but when they do come it’s like Christmas.. can’t wait to open to see your updates!!

This is my very first post to your site but YOUR style more than any other bloggers has inspire me the most.. because I think our taste is the most similar. 🙂

I too have to juggle between my home biz, 3 kids (6,3,2yr) & now taking on two extra (3mo,3) for a friend, plus a hubby & whatever else blows my way. The fact that you can even keep up with posting your updates in the mist of all what’s going on means you’re doing [beyond] a fantastic job!!

Us women were built strong! Just allow yourself to take a breather and keep GOD close — and you’ll be alright!

    From,

    Another Supermom (like u!)
    Cheers! 😀

LOVE everything! But have to ask: What color grout and concrete are in your bathroom?

Sorry things feel so hectic right now! If it makes you feel better, a good part of my grooming routine (makeup, eyebrow tweezing, etc) happens in the car while in traffic… gotta use that time efficiently haha 😉

    The house is looking great!!

Omigosh I love that concrete counter top! Love love love! I am so excited to see how things progress. Wishing you lots of energy and patientce!

(ps…just to gross you out…my husband’s boss used to work for a company that made convinence store food and the project that made him quit was when they extended the life of those hot dogs to 45 days! 45 nasty days on that rolling cooker!)

What did you use for the wood paneling? Is it individual boards or sheets?

I’ve been searching for a 30in vanity for years with 1 door and 3 drawers, and inset doors. Can you tell me who makes the white vanity above? Thanks so much!

This was a custom job. I have seen similar at Restoration Hardware and Pottery Barn. 🙂
