Washington School House Hotel

October 30, 2013 by Michelle Hinckley |

Most hotels we stay at aren’t really hotels.
Try motel or inn.
Family friendly, free breakfast in the morning, get in, get out -motels.
It’s the only time my kids are allowed to eat powdered egg substitute astro eggs, neon colored cereal, a bear claw and a chocolate donut with sprinkles for breakfast…
all in one sitting.

During my last midnight blogging session I was searching for school inspired decor (for a really awesome giveaway coming up) and I came across the most lovely, exquisite, beautiful, charming, romantic, unique (there just aren’t enough words) boutique hotel called the Washington School House Hotel
(no, not being paid to blog about them).

Feast your eyes…

Drooling, right!
The school was built in 1889 but then later renovated in to a hotel.
Each room is totally unique.
We don’t often think of good design as white walls and minimal adornment but I think showing restraint when it comes to decoration demonstrates as much talent as going nuts with pattern, texture and color.
The walls and decor are quiet and neutral allowing the eye not experience sensory overload.
Purely classic and timeless.
Just when I thought I would have to buy a plane ticket and book a reservation, to my surprise, the Washington hotel is located right in my backyard, up the mountain in Park City, UT.
Put the Washington School House on my bucket list please!

Ahh this hotel is beautiful! I went to the website to scour for more pictures, and found that it was built in 1889. I know it isn’t a big deal, but thought I would let you know ๐Ÿ™‚
