Wall Hanging & Decorating Ideas For Your Home.

October 5, 2011 by Michelle Hinckley |

This is a guest post from one of our site supporters.
Want to find a creative way to hang something on your wall? Wall displays can add character to any room and really bring a home to life. If you’re feeling inspired – here are 3 creative wall hanging/decorating ideas to revamp your home.
1. Make a Collage

Is there a particular subject or theme you are passionate about, or happen to have a lot of pictures of? Maybe your kids have taken part in many sports, music lessons, or maybe you have a stack of old black and white pictures you’re not sure what to do with.
Go through photo albums, check your digital camera or scour your magazine collection. Once you find images that fit the theme that you have chosen, take poster board or some other sturdy material and put together a collage to hang. Another alternative is to simply frame some images and hang them in a cluster, close enough together that people will know what you are trying to do.
2. Hang Them from the Ceiling
Stepping away from old fashioned decoration staples means you can consider hanging your pictures from the ceiling. Why not? It gives guests something interesting to look at, and hanging pictures can be great conversation starters. You can use an AS Hanging System, a suspended ceiling or trying rigging something up yourself. Remember to be safe when you are putting something together, and make sure that you have consulted an expert beforehand.
3. Display Something with Sentimental Value

While displaying a print that you bought from a craft store is always nice, you are not getting something unique; chances are high that thousands of other customers have purchased the same thing. Instead of sticking with what is common, give your home a more personal touch.
Perhaps you have a quilt that has been in the family for generations. Instead of leaving it in a box in the attic, take it downstairs and put it on the wall, or maybe even from the ceiling. If you have a painting that you drew several years ago, do not be shy in showing it to others.
Wall hanging and decorating should be fun, never a chore. When you get creative and try different things, whatever you do can be looked at in a new light. The above ideas are only a starting point; the sky is the limit when it comes to what you can do.  Check out AS Picture Hanging Systems for clever ideas on displaying your art.

LOVE these ideas! However, how do you get such large copies? Like Picture 1 of the black and whites of the children?

      They are 30 x 30 canvases. 🙂

Love, love, love these prints! Are they mounted on wood stretch bars with an oversized extended black wrap?
I read your response re size. Are they all 30 x 30 inch, just turned different ways?

A printing company did the canvases. Not sure how they put them together. 🙂
