Valentine’s Day Project #3.

February 2, 2012 by Michelle Hinckley |

I’ve always loved the Petal Envelope.
Cute and functional all in one.
For this Valentine I took a double sided piece of paper and printed my
template right on it from my computer then folded it up.
Then I grabbed my camera and had some fun.
I don’t know what it is about preschool age kids but when you put a camera in from
of them and tell them to smile they look like they’re constipated.
I had to really whoop it up to get him to laugh.
Then I uploaded my photo to Picnik, turned it black and white, next went back and used the lipstick feature to color in the heart red then added my text.
I made this petal envlope template which is big enough for a 3.5 square picture (download here).
If you’re kids are like mine it’s all about the candy so don’t forget to add a chocolate heart or something sweet in the envelope.

Uh……awesomeness! Nash’s cards are going to be a HUGE hit. They are stinking adorable.

Yes you are right about the preschool age smile! Maybe it’s a milestone that the doctors haven’t put in medical records yet! ;o)

I love this idea! I would like to use it for Mother’s Day though instead of Valentine’s Day. Is the paper cardstock? How did you make it double sided? Unfortunately, Picnik is no longer available. Do you know another program that I could use to do what you did with the photograph. I teach Kindergarten and would love to make these to accompany my kiddos gifts!

Use Pic Monkey. It’s just like Picnik. I just sent the image to someh where like Walmart or Walgreens and they printed it. Thanks Dawn!

Thank you so much! What kind of paper did you use to print the petal on? Dawn

One last question Michelle! How did you get the card stock red on one side and the pretty print on the other side? Thank you! Dawn

I actually think the paper came that way. It was a long time ago but I believe the paper was cardstock and that cute print on the other side. 🙂
