I’ve had a hankering to do something with all the pictures I had displayed at our Arizona house.
I had several pictures hung in our den and living room but they’ve been sitting in a box for the last 1 1/2 years collecting dust.
I decided to give these Command Strip Hooks a try instead of putting a zillion nails in my wall. I found them at Lowe’s for $.86 so I bought 20 of them. Then I when I went back for more the price was almost $4.00. Obviously someone had priced them wrong the first time…dang.
They’re great because they won’t damage your walls with holes and you simply pull the strips down when you want to remove the sticky part. Coolio.
Most our pictures were taken by the fabulous Michelle Rasmussen of Wondertime Photo.
I had originally intended to hang all my pictures uniformly…
So I used the yellow Frog Tape which is “delicate” so it won’t take your paint off when you peel it off. to tape my lines and use as a guide.
Then at the last minute I decided to hang them randomly instead but I find that using tape as a marker is a great guide, especially if you don’t have a laser level.
I was given Frog Tape to use for my projects although all opinions are my own.
LOVE this so much, Michelle. It’s perfect!
looks great!
when I first saw the pile of command strip wrappers all I could think was “thats SO expensive”. but then I saw your note about the price- amazing!!! I hope I come across such luck some day because I love those things!!
I know, right! It certainly was my lucky day! Thanks for your comment!
86 cents! what a steal! i’ve seen these command hooks too and wondered if they worked. Love your gallery wall.
A steal indeed! They work really well and I love not making holes in the wall. Thanks Andrea!
As always, beautifully done! Nicely spaced, an interesting combination of frames, and a wonderful collection of photography. Feels good to walk down that hall, doesn’t it?
Thank you for sharing!
Love the gallery! Where did you get the frames from? The different matting options really give the gallery that extra bit of character.
Thanks Nicole!
Love love love this! And I’m insanely jealous that you got those command strips for such a steal! I’m pinning your gallery to my gallery board. If you’d like, you can see my latest photo gallery here: http://www.dejongdreamhouse.com/2013/03/chair-rail-family-gallery.html
Yes, I got really lucky with those Command Strips. BTW, I checked out your gallery walls and it looks awesome! I love the one with the red and blue frames…very creative. Thanks for sharing!
I love the way it turned out! It looks wonderful!
I have never seen that particular type of command hook. I love how your gallery wall turned out. I have been wanting to do that in my hallway for years. Maybe this will give me the encouragement I need.
Yes, you’ve got to try them…they are great!
When I first saw the photo I thought, this has to be a sponsored post! Those things are expensive! Haha. How nice that you got a good price on them—I’m glad you made the smart decision to stock up when you did!
He! He!
LOVE this! I’ve been working on something similar and especially love that you were brave enough to hang the frames all the way down to the floor (something I wish I was brave enough to do). Can you keep us updated on how your kids do with them that low? If it works out for you guys, I might do it too!
I will! So far today the boys have had no interest in them so there’s not one finger print…yet.
What a beautiful gallery wall! I just love the black & white photos, and varying frames/mat sizes. That comes out gorgeous. I’ll be pinning this for my future home. And yes, also jealous of your Command Strip deal! They are great, but pricey!
This looks great! Would you be willing to give the source for the thin-profile frames? I’ve only seen them at PB and they are super pricey! I’m hoping with your resourcefulness you have found a good-looking, less pricey option (or maybe they were a splurge)?! Thanks!
I found the frames at Aaron Brothers. Twice a year they have a penny sale…buy one get the second for a penny. Thanks Erin!
Awesome! Thanks!
Your gallery wall looks great! I love the huge big white mats 🙂
I am also working on a gallery wall! Clearly it’s a popular project these days

Thumbs up for big white mats! Thanks E!
how do you get the command hooks to stay up…everytime I use them…following the directions, they fall, even with the lightest of things…I CANNOT get them to work, but I see people post about how great they are…
That’s weird. The texture on your wall must be different. I have to really work to get mine off.
What’s the size on that rug?
YESSSSSSSSSSS!! This looks so classic and awesome. I LOVE your hallway! LOVE it Michelle. You did an awesome job.
Thanks Sheila!
I have a few questions.
What size are the frames
What size are the pictures in the frames
How far apart are the frames.
What is the ratio of thin to thick frames
How many frames in total
Size of the wall
See just a few….
🙂 I am creatively & geometricly
challenged but I know when I love something.
And this I love….
I’ve found another trick that makes wall galleries look even better – make sure the margins/space between the frames is constant, e.g. always 1 1/2″ apart. I totally agree with using the same color frames for each piece to unify the look.
