Ok peeps…big news. We have a new bed.
Our old bed was a traditional pillow top, spring mattress. We really loved it.
Unfortunately, after the first year that mattress that we paid $1900. for began to develop deep body impressions
(permanent indentations in the mattress) and they just got worse as the years went on.
If you rolled in the middle of the bed, it felt like you were high-centered.
You almost had to roll back down and position yourself in to an impression otherwise you were uncomfortable.
We had heard a lot about foam mattresses and started doing some research. Body impressions were supposed to minimal in comparison to traditional pillow top spring mattresses.
We took a chance and had a GelFoamBed sent to us. It came rolled up very tightly in a vacuum packed bag. We opened it and it grew and grew and grew.
It looked good on paper but was it really comfortable?
Luckily, Gelfoambeds give you 100 days to sleep on the mattress to see if you like it. If not, you can send it back for a full refund.
What makes a foam mattress different than a traditional spring mattress is that there are no springs for one. You can see from the diagram is that it’s several layers of different foams. When you first plop down on a foam mattress you will immediately notice the difference. You don’t bounce like you do on a spring mattress. You sort of absorb, not bounce. The Mr. liked right away, I was a harder sell. It was just different than any other mattress I had laid on before. I like a plush, soft mattress and we ordered the most soft one they made. A pillow top has a lot more air to sink down in to. A foam mattress is still soft but it’s a denser soft, if that even makes sense. I told myself I would sleep on it for 30 days before making a decision.
Another feature about this new mattress is it has a layer of gel in the foam which is meant to keep you cool when you sleep. Have you ever woken up hot? The gel within the first layer is meant to help that. I was worried it would keep me cold but I was pleasantly surprised.
The real test of a bed’s quality is to let three boys loose on it.
Once they have worn themselves out, they’ll give honest feedback.
6 thumbs up from this crew.
After 30 days I noticed my quality of sleep was better. I also found myself REALLY looking forward to laying down at the end of a long day. It just feels good and that’s pretty much the most important thing when it comes to a mattress. The mattress supports your body all over evenly. And my favorite thing…no body impressions.
If you’re considering a new mattress I would highly recommend a GelFoamBed. All their beds are made upon order in the USA. Plus they use all environmentally safe materials. The real kicker is the price. If you’ve ever gone to a mattress store you’ve seen the mattresses range anywhere from $1200-$8000. Most kings that we’ve looked at are in the $2000. range. The Venus Super Plus Gel Memory Mattress is $849. The makers of GelFoamBeds are so sure you will love your new mattress they are giving 4men1lady readers an additional $50. off their purchase with promo code: 4men1lady. With the 100 day sleep trial and money back guarantee if you don’t like within that time frame you don’t have anything to loose.

I did made the change four years ago. I choose a classic mattress with a top of foam mattress. Detachable top foam mattress. Perfect choice. I like this gel idea!

Hi Michelle! I love your style! Just wondering where you got your sheets. I have been looking for something similar with not a lot of luck. I realize they may not be available anymore, but thought I would ask anyway just in case. 🙂
