Show Your Colors!

September 13, 2012 by Michelle Hinckley |

The first thing I consider when giving a room a makeover is which color to paint.
The walls and ceiling make up the majority of visual space of the room and have the potential to spell success or failure in the overall design. That’s why picking the right color is key.

Glidden is back with their newest spot called Show Your Colors on the My Colortopia page to help you gain inspiration for your upcoming painting projects.  Here you can browse through recent before and after shots of rooms and get ideas from other diy’ers.

Remember my bedroom makeover?

I was worried that picking such dark colors would make the room feel closed in and smaller.
On the contrary, it made the room feel calm and added a lot of depth.

Then there was my daring experiment with gray and white stripes back in 2008.

Starting the project I knew that the stripes was going to be very dramatic.
The color choice would either make or break the project.
If I would have picked anything bolder it would have probably felt like sensory overload.

In addition to viewing other’s projects you can also upload and share your own photos of recent projects you’ve embarked on.
I can’t wait to see some of your projects on their page.
Happy color picking and painting!

I absolutely love your bedroom makeover using gray/yellow together. We are in the process of going for a light gray/yellow theme in our bedroom & I love to see what you’ve done. What a great dresser! Thanks for sharing!
