Shameful.

April 18, 2011 by Michelle Hinckley |

Oh Craigslist, you naughty temptor.

I’m doing a very good job at convincing myself that I really do need all 6 of these.

Yes, the color and material are all wrong.

But the shape and nailhead detailing are so unique.

I’m already planning out my new dining area which is still just a dream.

I’m calling it the law of attraction.

Wrong?

What is the max you pay for 6 of these babies?

You are not wrong. Those chairs ARE fabulous. If I had any talent in DIY reupholster skills, I’d snatch them up in a heartbeat. I’d say $40 a chair. I can totally see them is a new crisp white or even something as loud as hot pink or a bold pattern.

Those are fabulous!! I would pay probably $25 a chair considering what you’ll be investing in them, upholstery, fabric, refinishing the legs. Good Luck!!

Those chairs are gorgeous! I would say $30 max for each chair considering all new upholstery and fabrics I will be getting later.

LOVE those. I would pay $25 a piece, and I think you could easily reupholster and trim yourself.

I’d spend up to 30 a piece, and they are fabulous!!! Nothing wrong at all with wanting them.

I agree with the others – probably $20-30 a chair since you’ll have to redo but they are very cool.

Oh my goodness..Buy those chairs and run with happiness. Wow ! you dont come across such uniqueness . I would say $25.00 a chair is a deal.

They would look so GREAT with your oak table from CL’s. ๐Ÿ™‚

Let us know if you bought them.

they are really fantastic, BUT I am overwhelmed at the idea of pulling all of those nailheads out and realigning them. Is it easier than it sounds?

OH WOW!! I’ve been searching for chair this shape. Now being they appear to be in great condition & the shape/style I’m thinking they would go for as much as $60 a chair on CL, but would I pay that? NO I’d offer $25 a chair

LOVE those chairs! I would pay no more than $40 bucks a chair. Great find!

Like Stephanie, I have nooo talent when it comes to DIY reupholstering (or really any DIY, if I’m being honest), but I can absolutely see those chairs being ROCKIN’, given the right fabric, etc.

Personally, I wouldn’t pay more than $25/chair, given the work that needs to be done, but I do hope you get them and share your project with us — Whatever you pay! ๐Ÿ™‚

LOVE those chairs! I would pay $50 each personally! We never have good finds like that on CL!

Go for it! I would say no more than $25/chair!

  19. IAMSNOWFLAKE says

I’d go for them. Considering that you’ve got small children I’d suggest using machine washable slipcovers in a color you love for the time being.

Those are fabulous! The shape/size looks a lot like our dining chairs. They’re not upholstered in anything very exciting, but this might give you a peek at what they look like in their natural habitat. ๐Ÿ™‚ http://viewalongtheway.blogspot.com/2010/01/after-pics-dining-room.html

hmmm. i love the chairs, and i’m generally SUPER cheap, but in this case i’d say $300 total. they’re totally worth it, being as they’re vintage and one of a kind!

let us know if you get them!

Hmmmm— I would go $40 a chair but they will probably want $50/$300 for set. So I would get them for about $200 for all six. But will you be able to recover them and save the nailhead?

  25. Anonymous says

I personally wouldn’t pay more than $20 for each chair since you have to put time and money into fixing them up

  26. Katrina says

    OMG…Love-love the chairs.

Lets see, I would pay 40.00 each for the chairs, I would grab them before they are sold to someone else.

Good find! I never find anything as awesome as this.

These would be gorgeous in velvet. A goldy color or any beautiful velvet color. Delish. You scored sister! ๐Ÿ™‚ Can almost hear them saying “Take me home and wrap me in velvet. You’ll love me forever.” : )

    Hi!
The color is actually fun and refreshing however I am sure they look very warn in person. White legs would really look great with this color. The upholstery tacks look fantastic too, I hope you carry that look over when you transform them. Drum roll please … considering they are on craigslist and considering they will need to have some attention before they become presentable, I would offer $100 for the 6 of them. That way you can negotiate up just a bit (no more than $120). I hope you get them (or already have them) so we can see the transformation!
