Meet my new friend Stacy (aka undercover Craiglist investigator in Minneapolis). She emailed me a while back when apparently some scammer had pulled the picture of my yellow dresser off my blog and tried to sell it…

I emailed the dude and he did a cyberspace bolt.

Anyway, she scored this lovely chair and tackled the upholstery project herself with amazing results. Go here to see her process.
After.
Fabric found here.
Can you belive this was her first re-upholstery project ever?!
I have new found confidence to attempt upholstery now.
Thanks for sharing Stacy!

Her first?! That’s amazing! And it’s so cute.
Cute Chair. Great redo.
Oh my goodness! I love this!
Oh my word, she did such a good job. Does she have a blog – I’d love to see more.

I love it. I wish I was that talented. I think I would be too afraid to screw it up…royally!
She did a great job ! I can’t believe somebody tried to sell your awesome dresser on Craigslist !!
Oh my gosh, I am…. I cant believe that was her first. I have 2 chairs that I bought from Craigslist a couple of months ago that are waiting to be reupholstered. I just might give it a shot if I could just decide on the fabric.
did she use a book? Take a class? It is fabulous! Can’t believe it is her first project.
Now that is talent. I’ve only reupholstered one chair in my life and there was lots of cursing involved.
So talented- love the redo. I was loving to pink to.
Wow, love that print!
Wow, it turned out great! I love a good before & after!
great redo! and what in the world was the guy going to do if someone tried to buy your dresser??? people are so weird.
WOW>
Beautiful…love the fabric.
Thanks for all of the kind words! Although this was my first true upholstery project, I’ve been sewing for years. When deciding to tackle this project, I did buy a “how-to” book but got frustrated with lots of the lingo. The most helpful thing was the deconstruction process. From that point forward, I really just educated myself throughout the project.
As you can see from the slideshow of pictures, I used my photo journal to help me along the way more than the book itself. You should all give it a….it’s not as hard as it may seem. Each individual piece is simple, the process is very logical and upholstery tacks are removable if a section needs to redone ~ trust me, it took me three or four tries to get those little curved arms right.
Take it slow and it will come together. Good luck & GO FOR IT!

Holy moly….that’s amazing!!!
I am blown away. It’s not like she reupholstered a bench or something, that chair looks super intimidating. Kudos to your reader.
oh so pretty!
Wow! I have recovered a basic dining room chair before…but nothing with the scalloped back. Love the chair. Is it for sale?
Wow I’m seriously impressed — the self welt and all that tufting…very ambitious (and the results are fabulous!).
AMAZING! That’s hard work!
