Reader Project.

March 14, 2011 by Michelle Hinckley |

After seeing my last post where I posed the question if bunk beds could be stylish, Jennifer sent me photos of her own bunk bed makeover.

Here’s her daughter’s existing bunk beds before…

AFTER.

What a transformation!
In her own words, here is a description of how she accomplished the look,

“I attached it to the ceiling by first making a large frame from 1×4’s the size of the bedskirt. Then I made a similar frame out of 1×2’s that was 1/2″ smaller all around and then mounted it to the 1×4 frame. This created an inner rectangle slightly recessed and to that I attached my curtain panels with flat head thumb tacks (This way they can be removed if they need to be cleaned.) The bed skirt was stapled on top of the whole frame and was mounted into the ceiling using 8 toggle bolts.”

I love when creative people transform the “Ehhh” in to “Wow”!
Thanks for sharing, Jen!

Hi Jenn! I absolutely love what you did with this room. I’m going to try to do something similar in my dorm room and I was wondering if you had any ideas for how to do it without putting any holes in the wall or ceiling. If you have any ideas I’d really appreciate it!
