On our way home from church my son pulled this out of his scripture bag and said his teacher gave it to him.
Whaaat?
He explained the connection between how people “way back when” used to pay tithes to the church with their harvest instead of money.
“Interesting object lesson”.
“Interesting object lesson”.
Then he gets home and says he’s going to make popcorn.
Whaaat?
I didn’t want to burst the poor lad’s “experiment” so I pulled out my camera and thought,
“yeah, we’ll see about that.”
(Tip…Only special dried corn on the cob works.
Also, works better if you take off your shirt, don’t smile and put all the chairs up on the table).
Great way to show your kids (and parents) how popcorn is really made.
If you want to try this yourself, check out farmer’s markets or you can also get them at Sur La Table.
Thanks Sister D…he really is learning!
Apparently I am too.

Thanks for the post! My friend planted some popcorn corn this year and offered me up some, but I had no idea what to do with it! Sounds like we could have a fun family night now! 🙂
