Pitter-patter.

July 29, 2011 by Michelle Hinckley |

Here’s the piece I picked up at the Old Flamingo that made my heart go pitter-patter.

The Mr. about had a heart attack when he saw what I brought home.  I plan to spray the wood white.  I’d leave the pink if I could convince my husband but I’m afraid no amount of favors will change his mind on the color.
A while back a blogging friend, Elisabeth emailed me a photo of the same headboard she found on her local Craigslist and asked my opinion.  I told her I’d buy it in a heartbeat if I lived in her same city. She ended up passing on it.  She did, however, send me some photos she found on Style Swoon of some “after” photos that someone else re-furbished..
  Yea or nay?

omgoodness michelle!!!! i love it! so excited for you. that headboard haunts me to this day. a huge mistake to not buy that. but at the time, $300 for a dirty musty old thing that needed lots of tlc (and we already had a perfectly fine bed) just wasn’t going to happen. ugh….regret….. i can’t wait to see what you do with this. master bedroom? your z.gallerie bed is so amazing too…how will you decide???

Amazing! I am totally jealous. I have a similar one pinned on pinterest in yellow. I have been on the hunt for something similar since I first saw it. I can’t wait to see what you do with it.

fabulous find!! i like the white spray paint and although the pink is fun, it’s not very husband friendly. haha

I vote for the cream and white

  14. A Pearl In The Making says

AMAZING!!!!! Would definitely paint the wood white. Maybe it would subdue the pink some and help your husband like it more.

It is such a nice upholstery job it would seem sad to cover it. Plus once you have pillows and stuff in front of it maybe it won’t see so bright to him.

Big FAT “Yea!!”….could you maybe use it in a guest room or prop up some LARGE pillows against the pink to mask it a little and please the hubsters? 😉 It’s gorge!

Gorgeous! I have the yellow pinned on pinterest as well (It is stunning)and I don’t think I could convince my husband no matter what the color. haha. He is more the Danish Modern kinda guy.

I poke the pink but not the wood. I want a headboard like this but have yet to stumble upon one. You’re a lucky girl!!

  20. elizabeth says

    I definite YEA!!

  21. Shannon says

    July 29, 2011 at 3:49 pm

The white frame is a definite ‘Yes’ – the fabric isn’t suitable for a bed where a gentleman is going to sleep.

    Black and white stripe maybe.

Black and white polka dot perhaps.

Black and white Greek Key is an interesting possibility.

I would replace this tufting effect with either a third color button tuft – or just a stuffed effect without any tufting.

  22. Ashley says

    July 29, 2011 at 3:49 pm

Oh my gosh, let me pick my jaw up off the floor! Paint it white, yes. Get rid of the pink, God no!! That headboard is nearly perf!

  23. Mary says

    July 29, 2011 at 3:57 pm

I think it great and the white will look stunning! I would have to change out the fabric just b/c I would need clean, fresh fabric!

  24. Carrie @ lovely etc. says

    July 29, 2011 at 4:01 pm

Swoon. This is amazing. Honestly, it looks pretty awesome just the way it is but painting the wood white will really make it pop. I’m not a huge pink fan but sometimes a nice raspberry pink is just the color to really make a statement. But I understand your hubby not being thrilled. If you recover, you should definitely stick with the same tufting pattern in my opinion. It is part of what makes it so great.

  25. Becky says

    July 29, 2011 at 4:04 pm

OMG I love it!!!!! I love the pink too! My husband wouldn’t go for pink either. lol

I can’t wait to see what you do with it!

Please keep the pink, please! Use your doe eyes on the hubby. Please!

Also, I am totally smitten with the wood tone. I wouldn’t change a thing, but I know whatever you will do will still be awesome.

Looooooooove this! I’d try it out in your bedroom as-is first, see if he can come around to it if you have more ‘manly’ pillows/accents? It’d be such a shame to refinish such a beautiful piece!

  31. Neverland says

    July 29, 2011 at 6:15 pm

I absolutely love it. I’m not a huge fan of the gloss white on the demo refurbished one though. Maybe it’s the camera causing contrast issues with the brown walls (and not knowing what color your walls are) but a creamier white would be incredible.

I’m jealous! I love the khaki and white combo…I also like the idea that someone posted before of patterned fabric although I think I’d go with a navy over black…I’m also dying to know how you go about re-upholstering something tufted like that?

I think it’s very pretty after it’s painted white. My husband might think it’s a bit too girly. :0)

Gorgeous! Definitely a keeper. Love the white for the wood, but I would change out the fabric for something a bit more subtle. Can’t wait to see the end result.
