Off to the upholsterer.

October 8, 2010 by Michelle Hinckley |

Remember this wing back chair?
I found it approx. 2 1/2 years ago at an antique store. It was upholstered in dirty, stinky blue fabric. I had it re-upholstered in this white vinyl.

Last year I found an identical chair at a garage sale for $15.00!
Today it’s off to the upholsterer.
Plans are to have it match the above one in white vinyl.
I’m thinking positive that Chavez will be able to locate the same vinyl.

I’ve got big plans for them both.

    Gorgeous.

Can I ask what the ballpark cost is on reupholstering a wingback in vinyl?

I have a wing chair of my own that’s about to go the upholsterer as well! You have one up on me though, you at least know what you want to upholster the chair in. I’m still undecided.

Good luck! Can’t wait to see what you do with them.

Phew! I thought from your title that you were sending off the already done one to be re-done yet again. I love it and how nice that you’ll have two matching ones now:)

I found a chair like this a couple months ago at Savers for $6.. I have yet to reupholster it, any tips for this? I thought maybe I could do it on my own, but I would most likely mess it up and still have to pay for someone to do it for me. Although, I have no idea how much getting a chair like this done would even cost.
I’d love to hear any advice that you might have!

Me too, i would love to know the ball park. i have an old leather recliner – wonderful chair, my folks gave me – hubby loves it, but it’s now cracked and ripped. I wanted to lighten it up for a our family room space – this would be great! How is the vinyl to sit on – is it really slick?

You’re right, those chairs are identical which is amazing because there are so many variations on the wing chair.
They are going to look amazing as a set :o)

The chair looks awesome! And I’m sure will be a dream to clean. YAY vinyl for that. I love how you layered the grey and yellow under the cushion, too. Adds such a great little surprise pop of color in a creative way.

    Beautiful.
Unless I missed the answer.. how much does it cost to upholster? I have a similar project, but have been hesitant to have it done professionally. Thank you!
