By now you should know I have a thing for old school equipment.
I’ve especially got a soft spot in my heart for these old a/v carts.
When I see them for sale I have to adopt them.
Immediately.
Oh yes, I have quite a collection of stray carts.
I’ve used them for end tables, night stands, bar carts, food serving carts.
My men have even found quite a bit of enjoyment riding them down the street (much to my chagrin).
My latest vintage school cart acquisition is this rusty old green beauty.
I picked up this wallpaper remnant a while back and decided it was time to put it to use.
(Seabrook Gm1242 Faux Puzzle Wallpaper).
Then I had Ace Hardware cut me a piece of acrylic for $10.
You could also use wrapping paper or even fabric…the acrylic keeps it smooth and protected.
This concept would also work great on a dresser too. It’s a safe way to add some pattern or color to a piece if you have commitment phobias.
Found this soap dish on Fab but it’s perfect for loose change, braclets, trinkets, etc.
Perfect little night stand for my little men.

I LOVE this…especially the color combo. Where/how do you find these pieces?

I love your cart and what a simple update! It looks really great I also love carts, just found one at a garage sale that needs some love. I love the beaker with bouncy balls, I have bouncy balls floating all over the house. Now I need to find a beaker, where did you get yours?

My mother-in-law is a former teacher and it was actually from her classroom that they were getting rid of however, I’ve seen them online. Best of luck! Please share pics!

Came to you from IC post today. Love the carts and LOVE the idea to cover the top. How easy is that??? I would love two of these for our new nightstands. Where do you find these? Everytime I have looked I have not seen these (that I recall). I would paint it then add the top. Do all carts have the lip on the top? And are they usually one size? So COOL!
Michelle Hinckley says
Yay…so glad you like them. All my carts have a lip, or edge to them. I find my at school auctions via publicsurplus.com. Love the idea of painting them. Hope you can find some.
