Nautical or Aeronautics?

April 23, 2009 by Michelle Hinckley |

I was going for Nautical. Like those big numbers on sails? Jake thinks it looks like an airplane hanger. Regardless, IT’S STAYING! Too much sweat and tears to care at this point. Since the boys will be sharing a room the “4” represents 2004 when “M” was born and the “7” represents 2007 when “N” was born.

Hey, that’s a really good idea…I’m going to see if Darlene will let me paint my birthday on the wall so I can remember when I was born too.

michelle, are your walls heavily textured? my walls are very heavily textured and i have yet to find a tape that doesn’t allow paint to bleed through. what kind of tape do you use? the room is looking good…real good!

i love the 4 and the 7 very creative! and who cares if it is nautical or aeronautical? i am sure once you get all of the other decor in there it will look just the way you want it to. i love how they look, very cool!

My walls are textured. I pressed really, REALLY hard on the tape to avoid bleeding and then I go back and touch up any bleeds after the tape is removed. Another trick is to paint the same color of the wall after the tape is applied. That way even if the paint does bleed it’s the same color as the base color. Then go over it after it’s dried with the contrasting color.

The best tape to use is called “Frog” tape. My Home Depot in Tucson has discontinued it but it’s best!

I discovered frog tape on my last paint job and I will NEVER buy blue tape again. That stuff rocks!

    Love the 47.
