I’d like to think it was vintage but it was in suprisingly good condition besides a few dents and scratches.
I envisioned a medical red cross on the front so I taped it all up with my favorite painters tape,
Frog Tape…
Frog Tape…
and spray painted it red.
I love the result!
I hung it the bathroom but the Mr. veto’d that idea.
So instead it’s found a new home in my boys bedroom.
They have been using it as a display box for all their knick-knack treasures.
I’ve always loved using things for their un-intended purpose.
I recently came accross this medical box from Land of Nod which is equally as fun.
I am now kicking myself. I saw one of these at an antique mall a few weeks back & came so close to buying it for the exact same reason, boy’s toys! I thought it would make a great display space for my son’s PEZ collection. Hmmm. I wonder if it will stil be there?
I love this! It reminds me of the book Indian in the Cupboard for some reason 🙂
so cool! i love finding things like that for my boys to store their treasures in. my five year old has his “special” rocks in the same jar as your sons’ rocks 🙂 funny boys!
Love your new find! My sons has a few tin boxes to keep his favorite toys/ treasures as well. I guess boys will be boys! 🙂

OOh ! I love this ….. It reminds me of the wonderful boys adventure book. Indian in the Cupboard…! Do you have that for your boys Michelle? I think they will love it! I know I did when I read it to my boy (Now 25yrs old) LOL
Di.
I never drag anything through the front door unless I can think of at least two places into which it might fit well or two purposes that it might fulfill.
You have certainly passed the test with this treasure – and boys remember this kind of thing! You know – that they had the coolest Mom in the neighborhood who would bring home treasures and customize them just for their pleasure!
This is wonderful!
Super cute idea! btw, where did you find your “N”? Just wondering because my vintage store sells letters in the same font, of scrap steel and looks like same size. We have a metal guy make them for us. Cute anyhow;)
Jessica,
Metal “N” is from Anthropologie.
Thanks!
Ah yes, just checked them out. The anthro ones are deeper than ours, but same size and font so from a distance it looked the same. Thanks for the response;)
I love this idea!!! you always come up with such creative projects. Check out what i did to my son’s room
