Three+ years people!
Three+ years the Mr. and I have lived in this bedroom:
Not anymore!
Goodbye pops of yellow from our last master bedroom.
You may remember, I got a little ambitious and sold our bed prematurely to make room for the DIY one that was in my head. Then a year went by with our bed on the floor before we actually got around to making it.ย Picture that people.
Thanks for sticking with me through this LONG journey.
In my next home (ahem) I vow to do decorate our master bedroom first.
Scouts honor.

Absolutely gorgeous! I love the combination of green and navy. Finally the bedroom is as beautiful as the rest of the house! Just lovely!
Thanks Iana…yes, it’s about time! ๐ Loving it.
Lovely! Been in my house 6 years. The mattress isn’t on the floor, but it certainly doesn’t look pulled together like your room. Thanks for sharing.
WOW!! Absolutely beautiful. Love it ~ great job…. and you have a lot of patience. ๐
We must think alike because I did my room very close to this. I just can’t seem to find that elusive green coverlet!
I actually bought that coverlet over a year or more ago. I haven’t been able to find it anymore. I did notice they had one in the same print but in navy. This was maybe a month ago. Maybe check ebay? Good luck!
Wow! Michelle, your master bedroom looks absolutely stunning, refreshing and well put together. I can’t believe you DIY that gorgeous bed (is that velvet?) and that chic feature wall (it looks flawless, I thought it was wallpaper!). You did a marvelous job. Such a fabulous, stylish, gender neutral master bedroom, your hubby must be so thrilled!
P/S: I am in the process of making over our guest bedroom. Please come and take a look if you like.

Thanks Jessie! The bed is actually navy linen. We’re loving it. Keep asking why it took me so long.
P.S. I’ve been following your room and it is crazy good! That bed feels so stately and elegant. And the blue wall square…I die! Kudos!
Thanks for your reply and for your kind words! Hopefully, we can have the big reveal soon! :
Have a good day!
Jessie
I pretty much want you to come to my house and do this exact same thing! Totally love this space! And now I am back to the board and baton wall going down my steps again! It just looks so lovely and makes we want to curl up and read a book or something! I must know how you made your bed! My husband and I are considering buying something like that but if it isn’t “that” difficult I might be able to convince him to DIY! Unless you wanna come to Iowa and help me (wink wink-lol)
Thanks Kate. DIY instructions will be coming soon on the bed. Book me a ticket and let’s get to work on your house! ๐
But really, the curtain HARDWARE! The finials! The wood! Where? What? WANT!
Curtain rods: West Elm.
Curtain rings: Bed, Bath and Beyond.

Your master bedroom is absolutely lovely. Congratulations on finishing it! ๐
I LOVE everything about it!!!!
My master looks a little to similar to your before pic. And I’ve been in my house for 5 years!! Just when I thought I was going to start it, I began tinkering & tweaking my boys’ rooms again.
I’m loving yours so much! The walls are gorgeous!
I hear ya there. We always put our own rooms last. ๐
It looks great! Love the walls and the bed and the mirror and your new dresser. I could go on. ๐
THIS is what good things are made of!! I like the attempts at adding yellow things in the before photos but you have truly nailed it in all of the after photos. I love that none of it is super matchy matchy, it all just goes beautifully together. Fantastic job!!
Thanks Lauren.
The pops of yellow was actually from our last master bedroom in AZ. We got rid of a lot but the yellow stuff was left over. Still love the color but was ready for a change. See

What a transformation you made. The navy linen fabric, and style of this bed is amazing – quite the DIY upholstery project.
Will you be sharing a tutorial on your bed construction in the future?
Hi Paula,
Thanks for stopping by! Yes…I hope to have the bed tutorial up in the next week or so. Stay tuned. ๐

What an amazing before and after! The wall treatment is fantastic. The custom drapes in our Bali Navy fabric look fabulous, too! Can’t wait to share this on Pinterest.
Thank you Christie! That means a lot coming from you. The curtains are hands down one of my favorite parts of the room! xoxo, Michelle
Can’t wait for the bed tutorial, I’ve been wanting a bed like that for awhile but they’re so expensive!!
How big are the square for the wood walls? I’m just trying to get a perspective. I want to do that on a feature wall in my living room. Also, how thick and tall is the wood? Thanks!
Inside of square is 20×20″. Trim is a 1×3 (I don’t know why they call it a 1×3 because the actual measurement is 1/2×2 1/2). Hope that helps! Michelle ๐
love the wood wall feature. Do you have a tutorial on how to make and install?
love the. greens, and wood dresser. enjoy!
