I had hoped to share more basement renovation progress but we are at a very laborious point in the process.
It’s literally as boring as watching paint dry.
No, literally.
We are just watching paint dry right now.
We are so close those I can almost taste it. My house is a house of chaos right now and it’s driving me CRAZY (insert opera-Oprah voice).
Every room of the upstairs contains basement paraphernalia.
The amount of construction muck and dust being tracked through the entire house is just making everything dirty. I can’t wait until we’re at the finish line because I am going to call in a crew of housekeepers, window cleaners and carpet cleaners to give this house a deep cleaning (but I’ll probably end up doing myself after our basement reno zapped every penny of the budget).
In the meantime, I’m on to the next project.
My master bedroom.
Can I get a woot, woot!
I’ve sampled enough vanilla in the rest of this house and I need color.
Lots of bold, rich color.
I’ve always adored emerald, navy and gold with some hits of black and white so there’s the color palette.
Lots of expensive pretties in the room but I’m going to attempt to diy most of it including the upholstered bed, the emerald nightstands, the mirror, the dresser and the light fixture. I’ve upholstered a headboard before but no biggie that I haven’t ever built a piece of furniture or re-wired so much as a lamp. My hands are in the air and I’m wavin’ them like I just don’t care.
Plus…
May take me until next year but oh well.
Just a reminder. Everything in my former room will be for sale soon.
None of it fits in our new bedroom.
Stay tuned!

What about the joshua tree silouette (sp?) hanging over the dresser? I love it – I’m a desert girl too.

I’m so bummed about that. There is no room for it either. For one, that picture is huge and the ceiling height was much larger at our old house. The other thing is there is a window right above the dresser so no place for any pictures. Boo. Thanks Kathy!

What’s the color on the nightstands? I need emerald green nightstands now.

Love it! I’m redoing mine as well and have an emerald green side table that I found at a thrift shop last year. It’s been waiting in the garage for me to get started ever since!

I’ve had mine little dressers for over a year. I finally dragged them to the garage and got my paint on when the cold weather threatened. I was afraid I had missed all my acceptable warm weather painting temps but luckily I finished them just in time! 🙂

My bedroom look so boring and it gets cluttered form few days. I need some tips that could help me in changing my home style and when I came across to your post then see this beautiful style. But there is one question more that which colour should I have to use for walls so that it look beautiful. I am waiting for your answer and thanks for this inspiring and informative post.
Michelle Hinckley says
Because there will be so much color going on with the wallpapered wall, green and blue accents I’m doing the other three walls Pure White by Sherwin Williams. To much color would be sensory overload. 🙂
