Let there be light.

June 14, 2010 by Michelle Hinckley |

Found these lanterns at a thrift store. My handyman husband is the process of re-wiring and hanging them. After we took them all apart the glass shell was left.

A little sand and a few candlesticks later…

Centerpieces.

I’m not crazy about the gold. If I get ambitious one afternoon I might tape then spray the gold trim a different color.
IF I get ambitious.

If anything they were good conversation pieces at dinner.

How creative as a centerpiece! Be brave and go for it! I think a neat turquoise or lime green because you have the sand and it would be summery!

Awesome idea! I say if you decide to spray them, skip the taping (too time-consuming) and just use a razor to get the paint off the glass. It’s much faster than taping!

I think you need to go BOLD and spray paint them! Maybe a bright yellow? I think the Gold dates them? Great finds!

Great way to reuse old fixtures (without having to go through the hassle of rewiring!).

(And, for what it’s worth, I kinda like the gold…)

Fantastic idea! You could rock the gold with some other gold/brass accents at the table a la Kelly Wearstler…
