The Mr. is always asking why we installed hardwoods and lovely tile if we’re just going to cover it up with rugs.
Little does he know about the art of layering (and functionality).
By the way, he also accuses me of being much more concerned with the art of space and hardly concerned with functionality…
to which I reply “correct” (and add a “duh” inaudibly under my breath). However, in this case form and function have come together.
Who doesn’t love a pop of pattern moment. (I didn’t add a question mark because it was more a statement than a question). You know those times when websites advertise a sale so you click over to see if anything jumps out at you? That’s what happened when Lulu & Georgia advertised their President’s Day Sale on rugs. This little number was speaking my language. And of course I justified the purchase because it was 1. on sale and 2. was totally functional (for the Mr.’s sake) 3. totally gorgeous.
So here’s the thing. I’m not usually a fan of rugs under dining tables because, hello? Food falls on the floor. But those little felt pads you put under the feet of furniture to protect your beautiful floors last for about 2 weeks then fall off. You typically discover it when you pull the chair out and all of the sudden there appears a 14 inch scratch on your wood floor. Those pesky scratches are all over our dining floor. So we’ve circled back to the rug under the table.
Swoon, harps, angels, heart emoji’s…
Check out my latest DIY wood bench with hairpin legs. Are you sick of me raving about these yet? This is my 4th DIY bench to date. I’m about to go raid the boy scout wood pile where I spotted a few more chunky wood planks. I about had a heart attack when I saw they had thrown them in their fire wood pile. Let me state for the record that I’ll take a heap of fire wood to compensate and make a nice little donation to the Boy Scouts of America. Just waiting for the snow to melt.
How cute are those rug tassles. Any bets on how long those will last with my 4 men?
Just to keep it real (because there’s always a few of you housecleaning police who always like to call my bluff on a clean house) here’s what it looks like on the other side of the camera…
I’m getting prepared for the Vintage Whites Market this Friday and Saturday at the Utah Fairgrounds. This is just 1/10th of what will be for sale. We’ll be hauling tons of our treasures and finds to the market and selling it all. Be sure to come shop! Info here.
