I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again…one of the quickest and easiest way to change a piece of furniture is paint.
When I came across this blek-brown bookcart at a vintage shop I snatched it right up. This isn’t the first time I’ve transformed a bookcart and I knew I could do it again easily with a couple of cans of spray paint.
If you’ve been following me for a while you’ve seen that I love me some vintage school decor. I get a lot of questions about where I find my treasures…for school decor, Google “School Auctions (enter your city)”. I also love estate sales, yard sales, antique malls, Craigslist…I search them all.
For this makeover inspiration I turned to School House Electric which I consider my “spirit animal”. 99.9% of all their merchandise makes me giddy with delight. I’ve long been in love with their Library Cart. It’s got a hefty price tag of $749. though but it’s the perfect inspiration for my book cart makeover.
I first gave my bookcart a good wash and clean. Then I gave it a quick rough up with some sandpaper. Nothing fancy…it took me about 5 minutes for this step.
Once I cleaned off all the sandpaper grit I was ready for spray paint. My favorite brand is Rustoleum which has the paint and primer together in one can.
Ta-da! Another project in the books.
