Ready for another reveal?
This time we’re moving on to the entryway.
Here are some before pictures that scream 1970’s.
After:
I would say the new front door with it’s inlaid windows and side lights make the biggest difference.
Amazing how brightening up a space with natural light can change the entire feel of a space.
I also love the interest horizontal paneling adds. I wasn’t sure about it when it first when up but it’s become one of my most favorite features of the whole house.
The new penny tiled floor is also one of my favorites. I wanted some kind of personalization with the white penny rounds. I thought about monogramming the floor with our initials but then everyone said, “what if you move”?…which we’re not planning on. So instead I added the street address numbers for a bit of fun.
Thank you to Michelle Rasmussen of Wondertime Photo for providing the “after” shots and did a
“Wonder”-ful job, as always.

So Cool! I love the personal touch with the penny round numbers. What kind of wood did you put on the walls? Is that tongue and groove paneling from Home Depot. I love it!
Thanks,
Amy

The house number in the tile is genius!
Studio One Design says
It’s beautiful Michelle!
Excellent balance of light to dark! Your final color choice for the front door is perfect! I love to see what the light does to gray at different times of the day. Sometimes it looks gray – then it will look silver – and later it appear to be a shade of pale blue.
The ceiling light is very clever – I would love to see how it illuminates the space near sunset – and betting it is wonderful!
The choices of texture over color are also quite excellent. The long smooth white wall panels against the dark rounds of the black floor add punch to the play of light and dark.
Well done!

I’d love more details about the door. I went to Home Depot and they couldn’t find a door within their Jeld-wen system that matched yours. Thanks

I just scoured the Jeld-Wen website to find that beautiful door and I couldn’t find it. Please let me know the style number or order number so I can update my doors with that great style. Thanks.

Hey michelle everything looks so awesome!!
We are looking to fix up our entry and love what you’ve done.
3 questions:
1. what color paint did you use on your door
2. Any estimate you could give on cost of door with side windows (are they tinted?)? we currently also have a double front door.
3. Also would love to hear what you did for the plank on the wall. Currently have wall paper and I don’t want to have to rip that much off!
awesome!!
thanks, angie

Love your entryway and using it as inspiration for my own. Just wondering, are the black penny tiles matte?
Michelle Hinckley says
Thanks Emeka, yes the penny tiles are matte. Are you thinking of using them?
Emeka says
Hi Michelle, thanks a bunch for getting back to me, and yes I most definitely am. Been looking around NYC for some that aren’t some exorbitant per sq. foot price and are the same size as the white matte penny tile I used for my bathroom floors. Think it’s all going to work extremely well with the color scheme / my plan for the foyer of the brownstone.
Will send images when it’s all done if you’re interested.
Emeka says
Hi Michelle,
One last question…what color grout did you use? I was looking at either Oyster Grey or Bright White from Polyblend, but I’m not sure.
Thanks again!
Michelle Hinckley says
I used a white-ish grout but it’s definitely showing signs of being dingy. I would suggest going a little darker because it gets dingy fast. 🙂
