DIY Peg Board plus a giveaway for a new drill and circular saw.

June 16, 2016 by Michelle Hinckley |

Last week we showed you this DIY giant peg board we made for our basement makeover.

DSC_2095

It has turned out to be one of the best organizational tools ever.  The pegs can be removed and inserted anywhere that you need them to be.
On a scale of 1-10 (1 being easy, 10 being difficult) I would say this project is a 3.
Even my kiddos got in on the creation of this board.

Supplies you will need:
Sheet of plywood.
Ruler and pencil.
Straight edge.
3/4 round dowels.
3/4 round drill bit.
Drill (Black+Decker).

IMG_9832

The first thing you want to do is measure where you are going to drill your holes.
Honestly, this was probably the most time consuming part of the whole project.
There is no right or wrong dimension for how far apart to space your holes, just make sure they are uniform.

IMG_9867

Start drilling on your marks.  Be sure to keep the drill at a 90 degree angle so the pegs will go in straight.
There is a reason I recommended a Black+Decker 20V drill…

IMG_9838

The new Black+Decker drill is 30% more compact at only 2.6 lbs and just as powerful as many larger models.  Drilling just a few holes will get tiring fast.   We actually have a larger drill but I found that the weight and size of the new Black+Decker is so much more practical.  I promise you will agree after drilling 5 holes.  You can more done quickly without giving your arm a charlie-horse.  I actually keep my drill under the sink in the kitchen.  You’d be surprised how convenient it is to grab it when you need to tighten a screw or hang a picture.  The drill really packs a punch within such a small unit.
Read on how you can win a Black+Decker drill and saw.

IMG_9864

The dowels are also 3/4 inch found and can be found at most any hardware store. I used a saw to cut them at at 6″ each.
Once you have all your holes drilled, wipe off your surface and you’re ready to hang your new DIY Pegboard.

Now for some exciting news.  One lucky reader will win a new Black+Decker 20v Drill and Circular Saw.

This is such and cool project and one that I hope to build soon. Where did you find some of your accessories, like the cheese boards for shelves and the numbered flip pages?

What an awesome giveaway! We’ve been wanting to rip down our current back patio covering/awning and replace it with a DIY pergola, so these tools would probably help make that project easier 🙂

It said to leave another comment about a different B&D product….I checked them out and a steam mop would also be great, considering our house is 85% hardwood and tile and we have 2 large messy dogs and a toddler son….so you can imagine the messes we get, LOL! 🙂

A circular saw is just about the only power tool I’m missing (that and a small palm sander) so this giveaway is perfect! The projects on the black & decker site look fantastic, but I was instantly drawn to the Address sign/plant box. It would add some serious kerb appeal and so beautiful too.

Thanks for doing what you do. I’m looking forward to more awesome posts 🙂
