Demolition.

August 17, 2011 by Michelle Hinckley |

Demolition is under way. Here’s the plan…
We knocked three walls down.

I always say that projects cost more and take longer than you anticipate.  Here’s why…we hadn’t planned on raising the ceiling height.  However, once we knocked down the walls it started to look claustrophobic and boxy.  So down came the ceilings.
Cha-ching.

Thank you for sharing! You will not be sorry for so much as one of the changes – ‘cha-ching’ or not! Can you sink in a sky-light or 2 or 3? I did it (cha-ching!) and having the burst of light when you enter the space is worth every blessed cent! Prayers for your renovations – may they be completed beautifully!

Oh my gosh, that looks crazy! As far as knocking out the ceiling, how po’d would you be if you didn’t do it but wish you had? Better to do it from the get go…

Oh My!!! You are truly in the full throttle mode of reno!!! You are going to love the wide open space once it is done. I always figure 20% more time and money than anticipated, it is just inevitable. You know the most dangerous phrase while doing a reno? “While we are at it, we might as well……”

Michelle, I was there a little while ago with a project I’m currently working on but we have since installed all the drywall. In my own home I knocked out a wall and since it was a load bearing wall I had to install a double header to make sure that my attic didn’t end up on my floor. Just check to make sure that those aren’t load bearing walls you don’t want to have issues later. I’m sure it’s going to be fabulous when it’s all done.
