We have this small little courtyard in the front of our house.
It’s always just been filled with rocks.
In three years the only thing we’ve ever done in there is pull the weeds.
Several months ago I brought home some pavers (from Lowe’s) and surprised my husband with his new project.
(Thank you, Love!)
Last fall I picked up these planters, chairs and pillows at Target for 75% off when they were closing out the summer seasonal items.
An umbrella, some lemonade and big cushy ottoman for my swollen feet would make this little space perfect.
Looks great! I love the planters!
Love it and it looks so simple to achieve!!!
What a great way to make an used space into someplace special. I’m sure you’ll get a lot of use out of this area.
What a nice bonus area–I love the simplicity and ease of it!
I love it! I too have those red and white striped pillows from Target but I didn’t get them at 75% off like you did haha
Gorgeous! and the little turtle’s sweater matches perfectly hehe.

Looks great!!! I did my own little paver patio project last spring, so I know that it can be a bit of work, but so worth it 🙂
Great update! I love the striped pillows.
I did something similar last year to create a grill patio. I love it and it was so easy to do!

Adorable, loving the tree stump table!
All so cute!!! I love those planters.
Great idea! Showing the link to my husband tonight. The weather in St. Louis is finally ‘normal’ enough to work outside and I think this is the perfect project! What size pavers did you use?!
LOVE it! Its so simple yet an oasis at the same time! And you got some great deals:)
XO,
Sarah
It looks fantastic!!!
It looks great! LOVE THE RED AND WHITE!
What a great spot!
Looks awesome! Did you DIY the stump side table?
cute aaaand low maintenance. Shazaam. 🙂
Its the cutest!!
Looks great!! I wish we were that close to spring:)
So cute! What a nice way to make a space more usable!
I looks so great! I swear, there have been so many times that I have been thinking about a project for my house and BOOM!- it shows up here! I have a little backyard that this project would be perfect for. If you have time, could you share a few more details about how the hubby did it? Thanks so much!
Well done! What a difference.
This makes me want to have an outdoor space so bad! What a great Target find by the way.
What an awesome idea to add pavers! It makes such a huge difference. I grew up in New Mexico and these pictures make me miss my arid home — I’m in the Bay Area now where it is wet and dreary.
I love the planters. They really are a great color!
that looks great!
I love the line “I surprised my husband with his new project!” so funny. he did a great job!
What a fantastic idea! So clever!
we just did a similar patio but with grass between the pavers. I love it. We are going to do the walks the same way.
Looks amazing.
Good idea!
Good idea!
We SOOOOO need to do that! We have just an awful space in our front yard and it would look so much better with pretty pavers and pebbles like you’ve done! I plan on showing my husband this and say, “THIS is what I want for our anniversary!” (it’s April 8th) : )
Those planters are to die for. I love them. The courtyard is really cute.
congrats on being on apartment therapy today!
This looks awesome! I’ve got a little patio in the front of the house that I’d love to do this for. Sorry for the amateur questions but is it as simple as placing the pavers on the ground and filling the space in between with little rocks? Is there anything adhering the pavers to the ground?
How have those stones held up through the seasons? Have you found that they’ve settled or that the rocks between them have washed away a bit?
Rob
I love the courtyard with the stones and the pavers — do you have any tips on how to make such a courtyard? E.g., is it hard to lever the stones and pavers? Thanks!
