Project basement remodel is coming along.
If you follow me on Instagram you saw that tile installation has begun (thanks to the Tile Shop)
which means it’s time to start shopping for an area rug.
The Mr. keeps questioning why we need to get a rug to cover the brand new flooring we’re putting in.
“Oh dear, dear, dear…” (eyes closed, head shaking).
“Layering, Honey. Layering.” (He’ll get it when he sees it).
I’ve partnered with Plush Rugs to do a giveaway and review but I first need to select a rug.
They have a HUGE selection of high quality, wool rugs.
You name it, they’ve got it. Every color, style and material you could think of is on their site.
With over 23,000 large rugs available I forsee many late nights scouring their site, stewing over several contenders.
Here are the options I’ve narrowed it down to (just a mere 18).
Chime in and let me know your opinion.
I could go safe and timeless with a neutral…
1. (Surya Reed-806)
2. (Safavieh Vintage VTG113-660)
3. (Safavieh Natural Fibers 400)
4. (Surya Fargo-108)
5. (Surya Cambria CBR-8714 )
6. (Surya Rhapsody RHA-1026)
Or I could stick with the current gray theme that I’ve already got going on in the rest of the house.
1. (Safavieh Montauk MTK751K)
2. (Surya Reeds -800)
3. (Surya Chatman CHT720D)
4. (Safavieh Mosaicc MOS161A)
5. (Safavieh Vintage VTG158-770)
Or I could throw all caution to the wind and go with a bold pattern and bold color.
1. (Surya Fallon FAL-1036)
2. (Safavieh Faux Hide-FAH161A)
3. (Surya Fallon FAL-1087)
4. (Safavieh Thom Felicia-TMF903A)
5. (Safavieh Adironback-ADR108F)
6. (Surya Calvin CLV-1006)
7. (Surya Hudson Park HDP-2003)
Tough decision, right?
Like I said, let me know your favorite area rug for my basement. I need to be talked off my design ledge.
In the meantime, hop on over to Plush Rugs and start shopping for your favorite area rug.
I’ve got a fun giveaway coming up with them on the horizon!

My latest color crush is orange/tangelo. It is so happy and bright, and it’s hard not to add it to every single room. But in the basement it would really brighten things up! I would go with Surya Calvin CLV-1006. Can’t wait to see which way you decide to go!

Love the choices you have picked so far. If you want to stay with neutrals – I like #6 because it still has a fun pattern. If you go with grays (love gray) I like #1…not sure what the space looks like exactly, but the stripes could help lengthen the room. For bold colors, I like #3 and #4. Overall great choices. For rugs, I also like to check out http://www.FLOR.com. These are carpet tiles that come in hundreds of colors and designs and you could make your own pattern and/or rug shape. Also, if one of the tiles gets a stain or damaged, you can easily replace it without having to replace the whole rug.

I like #3 in the greys or #1 in the bold patterns. Have fun choosing!

I love #5 in the grays, or #3 or #5 in the bold…also you can’t go wrong in my book with an animal print 😉

Go bold. I like the red flower one but might not be best for boys!

Good point! Wah.

I went to Instagram to view the tile flooring… So after viewing the wonderful tile floor I am seeing a very understated rug which will function to enhance the subtle colors in the tile. I am seeing #4 or #5 in your group of “Neutrals’. Perhaps it is just a reflection of the color quality of my monitor, but #4 appears to be brown laced with gray and this would be quite nice sitting atop your tile. I can also see #3 or #5 from your selection of “Grays’ – #3 is a very nice bold statement in the perfect combination of gray and white. Sorry, I would not choose one from the ‘Bold’ selections. I feel that they would not enhance the beauty of the tile. I am certainly looking forward to viewing your finished effort!

Loving 4 also! As much as I love all of the bolts I’m not sure they’re right for the space either. Thanks friend!

I like 4 and 5 in the neutrals (plus I love brown with gray) but I’m also drawn to 1 and 7 in bold. It doesn’t look like anyone above has made the same choice yet! Good luck choosing!!
Michelle Hinckley says
Good picks! I’m totally feeling 4 in the neutrals too! Thanks!

MY FAV: http://www.FLOR.com
And…right now until Oct. 29th, they are having a 25% off SALE, and FREE SHIPPING is anytime you order.
I am looking at ordering more for my covered outdoor patio. I love this way of modular rugging. :))))) Love the concept, eco, and easy to clean a SQUARE! No more ruining the whole rug. We don’t have kids but if you do…wow—what a great concept! Check em out.
As creative as you are Michelle, you would be awesome putting together something neato for your basement….also, they have designers that can also help you create the look you want. Have fun shopping! Aloha and Aromas, Janice

Go bold and switch it up a little! I’d love to remodel our basement. Tropical storms and hurricanes in the past 2 years ruined it!
Nicole says
I love #2 and 4 in grays!

#2 in the grays(surya reeds). It looks like a beautiful rug. Good luck!

My first choice by far is Safavieh Thom Felicia-TMF903A, though the Safavieh Montauk MTK751K is a distant second. I think thom felicia’s rug would pull the blues out of the floors and accentuate them. Whatever you choose will be gorgeous
Allison Eberhard says
I would pick #2 in neutrals or #5 in greys.
Heather says
I like Neutrals #6 Grays#3 and Bolds#7. I think Bolds number 7 will really add a nice pop of color.
