Can bunk beds be stylish?

March 10, 2011 by Michelle Hinckley |

I’m working on a new project where the client is considering a bunk bed.
(Insert me wincing).
So I wondered, can bunk beds be stylish?

Well, well, well…not so bad after all.
This one just might fit the bill. Love that it can do double duty as a bed or a sofa.
I’ll take one in red please. Found it here.
(Hey Jake, I even discovered they even sell Bunkie Boards [here]).

We’re going to soon be putting bunk beds in for our boys. I’m nervous and excited all at the same time. We’ve tried a loft bed and I HATED it, but as you have shown, some bunk beds can look really good!

I love the grey and red idea in the first photo! Such a good use of space! I have no need for bunk beds but suddenly…I want them! ๐Ÿ™‚

I am soooo glad you did this post! We will be upgrading our twin boys nursery soon and will be doing bunk beds. I’ve been looking for inspiration and it’s hard to come by. Can’t wait to see the final reveal!

I’m usually not a fan either, but check out some of the work that Erika has done over on Urban Grace Interiors. Good inspiration for your future project!

My boys (5 and almost 3) have bunk beds. They heart them big time. Here’s the sad part of the story… There is nothing else in the room… just the beds. Nothing on the wall except a fresh coat of paint. I have ideas, but have some serious problem with the follow through! Yipes!

My hubby still has his bunk beds from when he was a little boy. Our son will be moving into a big boy bed soon, so I’m trying to find a way to fancy them up. Thanks for some great ideas!

My sister and I had bunk beds. I slept on the top and fell out 3 times before my parents realized the “rail” wasn’t suppose to be up against the wall…I’d love to do bunk beds for my wee ones, but I’m afraid they’re too young still.

We just put Blake and Phoebe in a room together and got them bunk beds. As of right now they are just set out as two twin beds, but as soon as I get gutsy enough we are going to set them up. Their room won’t look nearly as cool as these rooms, but I did make Mark and Joe paint the room with some stripes, and it turned out rreally cute. We still have a lot of decorating to do, but I’m hoping it will look maybe 1/3 as cute as these pictures!

Bunk beds can look super cool. I just HATE making them. What a pain! How about two sleeping bags and a tent in their room instead?

Kids will really be attracted to these bunk beds. Each kid is unique and grow at different rates, you need to consider their taste or their like, but the most important thing is to find a bed that suit their needs.

Many children in cramped rooms tend to use their beds as toys or indoor trampolines.
With a bunkbed you children will have more room to play normally indoors….

Before their discharge from the NICU, Tommy’s doctor scheduled an appointment for him with a heart specialist to evaluate his need for heart surgery. At Tommy’s follow-up appointment, an ultrasound showed that his heart had healed.
