When we set our sights on being store owners we knew we'd be busy, just how busy? Nothing could prepare us.
It's a whole new level of good busy...gray-hair-growing busy.
The creative side of picking and furniture upcycling is a blast...here's just one of the latest...
I recently found this lovely French Provincial dresser at an estate sale. It was in near perfect condition. I know painting perfect wood makes some people crazy but I had such good results with this dresser that I thought
30 minute DIY project
I had so much interest in the vintage metal ballot boxes I gave a quick makeover to that I decided to try something similar on some vintage wooden crate boxes.
I have several of these old wood crates sitting around, collecting dust.
Using some Frog Tape I simply color blocked out a simple diagonal line. I've been experimenting with a new type of paint called Maxx Gloss by DecoArt.
It's a high gloss water-based paint which mimics the look of oil which I love so much.

Stripping metal from a vintage collectible.
Most pickers will tell you they have a certain something they look for when out hunting.
For me, anything metal and any type of vintage wire basket has my heart.

Since taking over The Old Flamingo I've been treasure hunting every weekend and have started a collection of vintage first aid boxes.
As I've been picking through people's stuff I've found that lots of people have collections but often time they are stuffed in a closet or under a bed.
What good is a collection if you can't
