When my husband and I purchased our first home we were young and had very little money to furnish an empty house. I would drool over glossy retail catalogs and calculate how long I'd have to save up for everything I loved. Once I finally got the furniture and decor of my dreams I noticed that my friends neighbors had the same or a version of the same things. Wanting a more unique palette I looked for other ways to find distinct items that didn't look like everyone else's homes. That's when
Latest dining room addition plus some big news.
The Mr. is always asking why we installed hardwoods and lovely tile if we're just going to cover it up with rugs.
Little does he know about the art of layering (and functionality).
By the way, he also accuses me of being much more concerned with the art of space and hardly concerned with functionality...
to which I reply "correct" (and add a "duh" inaudibly under my breath). However, in this case form and function have come together.

Warm Weather = Time To Paint!
Thanks to global warming Salt Lake City got up to 68 degrees this past week.
Crazy unusual.
I wasted no time and got my hiney outside to work on projects.
My friend found this huge board at Habitat For Humanity.
It was so heavy it required two people to lift it. My Mr. ripped it down the middle to create two boards. The wood was weathered and in rough shape. The more I sanded the more it started to flake of in chunks. I decided to see if I could find a commercial mill to plane the

As soon as I pop an interesting print in the frame it sells right away.
I've had a few ornate gold frames in the shop for over a month

This past year was jam packed full of raising boys, DIY projects, stepping out of comfort zones and doing things that scared us (and still scare us).
Reading this daily quote daily motivated us to take action and go for our dreams.
In May of 2016 the Mr. and I purchased a cute little vintage and eclectic finds furniture shop from the retiring owners called The Old Flamingo.
It's been a year full of high's and low's. Owning a shop was always such a
