Last week I dished about the pros and cons of cement counters. This week I'm continuing on with our main bathroom review and doing some tile and potty talk.
This toilet gets an A+++ in design. It's the Saile by Kohler and is a one piece toilet which means there's no crack between the base and the tank for little boy urine to get trapped and hide.
I also love that the base doesn't have the weird curvy thing...instead it's all just smooth and uniform all the way down. Easy for cleaning.
The
Master Bedroom Conundrums.
The story of our master bedroom is a story about a room that just can't get done.
It's a room that just keeps getting pushed lower and lower on the to-do priority list.
Unfortunately, I'm not the type of person who does just a temporary decorating fix until the master plan comes together.
Oh no. The pretty bed is sold as it the yellow dresser, night stands, art, lamps...it's all gone.
I'm an all or nothin' type of gal.
I thought if I had a blank canvas to work with it would light a fire
Reviewing our concrete counters.
If you follow me on Instagram you've seen that we've been doing some major renovating in our main bathroom.
The problems with this vanity started about 1 year after we had completely remodeled this bathroom. I'm kicking myself that I didn't snap any pictures but let me try and describe the nightmare.
When you would open the door to look under the sink the plumbing had completely corroded and rusted including any other metal under there. We're talking hinges, magnets, screws...all completely
Thrift store vase.
A few weeks ago while searching for some interesting containers to make cement planters from and I came across this purple vase at a thrift store.
I loved the texture but it looked like something from the 80's.
For $2.00 I decided to see if I could give it a little face lift.
I love me some spray paint but I have been painting a whole lot of anything lately.
I pulled out my trusty Rustoleum primer and gold paint in a can and went to work.
The texture of pattern remind me a bit of these
Repainting the cabinets…progress.
Monday, Memorial Day, I spent the entire day taping, masking off and plasticizing (word?) our kitchen and two bathrooms in preparation for refinishing and painting our cabinets.
I will compare it to labor.
It was painful.
Hours and hours of work with no end in sight.
Tape falls off, kids put their hand through things... it was one of the most tedious and annoying tasks I've done.
Then the cabinet master came...enter Ryan Reader.
He worked his magic with some seriously toxic lacquer
Two tone painted bench.
Over a year ago I found this little bench at a consignment store and brought him home with me.
It's one of those little treasures that is completely beat up and rough around the edges but has tons of character.
The weather was finally warm enough and kiddos were occupied with the sprinkler and popsicles so I gave it a rough sand.
I ran inside to get a few supplies and came back out to witness my little man serenading the neighbor girl on the bench with a song so off key yet so innocently
