Sometimes when I see really dated spaces I can't help but wonder how on earth we ever thought those finishes were ever in good taste?
Then I start to worry about what I'll think about my own home in 20 years.
We will all just cringe over our white kitchens and think, "what were we thinking"? Fingers crossed no. Hopefully our white, timeless kitchens will be just that.
At any rate...I'm back with the latest kitchen redo/makeover that my cabinet magician Ryan Reeder just completed and I am
Questions to ask when hiring the right cabinet-maker.
Disclosure: I participated in a trade for labor with Ryan Reeder Cabinets only. Thoughts and opinions are 100% mine.
Our kitchen and bathroom cabinets have been repaired and repainted and I couldn't be happier (revisit our process here). I know it's a little pre-mature to be singing praises after only a few short weeks but there is such a huge difference in the quality this go-around. Ryan Reeder did a first rate job and the next time I do another custom kitchen I'll be using him start
Choosing a rug pad.
Thank you to Rug Pads USA for partnering with me and sponsoring this post.
A rug without a rug pad is like a skater on ice without ice skates.
That may be a little too poetic and heavy for a Friday morning.
What I mean is you can't have a rug without a good quality pad...the rug just slips all around...it just doesn't work...believe me I tried...and I slipped...and fell on my arsh.

Because it's a basement apartment kitchen it's not something that one would want to throw a whole lot of money in to.
It's pretty Ikea-ized.
Cabinets from Ikea, butcher block counters from Ikea, the island is from Ikea...and even though it's not our main kitchen it still takes a beating and has held up even better than our
Ikea island hack.
Did you know we have basement apartment?
We put it in three years ago but the finishing touches are just now coming together.
Before I show you kitchen apartment I wanted to give you a sneak peak of the island in there which is the Stenstorp from Ikea.
You can't beat $399. for an island. It's perfect for the small little compact space that is. While I love the look of the butcher block it's pretty difficult to maintain (not that I ever thought it was going to be a durable surface ). Over
