Don't change the channel...you've landed at the right place!
We just got a little face lift over the weekend (thanks to Designer Blogs).
Due to my love-hate relationship of technology my site crashed a few weeks ago.
Pretty much all my fault.
I didn't keep my site and plug-in's up-to-date and as a result everything went poof (and I call myself a blogger...ahem).
After several hours on the phone we finally got it re-installed but it was all jacked up.
Fixing everything that got broken would
DIY Etched Glass Jar.
This holiday season I'm participating in a Cricut Secret Santa exchange (#secretcricutsantaexchange) between bloggers. How it works is you are assigned a name and you have to make a gift using the Cricut Explore Machine. I got creative genius Jen Goode from 100 Directions blog. I wanted to make something she could use all throughout the year and not just during the holidays. I put my creative thinking cap on and came up with a Treat Jar.
It's really just personalizing a generic glass jar
DIY galvanized steel tub + $100 giftcard giveaway.
For the first time ever we bought a real Christmas tree this year. I've been talking about doing it for years but this was the year we finally did it. The Mr. didn't understand why we needed to drive to a tree lot, make all the kids illegally sit on the floor of the mini-van home because we had to put all the seats down so the tree would fit, buy MORE Christmas lights, get pine needles all over the car and living room floor and pay money for a tree when we already had a perfectly good
DIY Paint Stir Stick Sign.
Yesterday morning Salt Lake City woke up to 14 inches of pure mountain powder.
Beautiful indeed but awful for driving.
(Did I ever mention I wrecked my dad's car when I was 19 in the snow storm of the century? Suffice it to say, I'm a little nervous driving in the snow).
Instead of run errands I called it a snow day and spruced my house up for the holidays.
One of the things I threw together was this holiday sign that was completely free.
You heard me right...F-R-E-E. I had all the
Questions to ask before hiring an upholsterer.
Over a year ago I scored a pair of these vintage Milo Baughman -esque lounge chairs.
My plan was to have them re-upholstered...but then life got in the way.
Every time I put money aside to have them done, a kid would need money for basketball camp or for breaking his leg and need an $800. boot. Oye.
If you've ever received an estimate to have a piece reupholstered, it ain't cheap (neither is a boot for a broken foot).
You may remember this $15.00 yard sale wingback chair...

This gift will change the world.
I love Christmas and I loathe Christmas.
The REAL message of Christmas seems to get lost in our world of frenzied retail.
My boys have grown to feel entitled to a bounty of gifts, many of which they have no need of. Giving feels more obligatory than anything.
How do we undo the Christmas that has been spoiled by the notion of getting? As a parent it's a tricky balancing act.
I was recently introduced to the CARE organization and asked if I would spread the word about their site.
