Today this cutie pie turned 5 years old. Last night dad told him that he would cook him a special birthday party breakfast. This morning at 5:48am Tani came in my room and asked me to help him put on his special shirt (a.k.a. church shirt) for the party.
“You already had your bday party,” I said.
“No, my bday breakfast party!” he reminded me.
On very special occasions the “You are Special Today” plate gets dusted off.
Today was a “Special” occasion!
A couple weeks ago Matani and Nash had a joint birthday party at Pump It Up since their birthdays are so close together.
Party favor bags for the girls…
Loot filled bags for the boys…
I told Tani I’d take him to lunch where ever he wanted to go. His pick, “BK!” (Burger King). Never been there but he’s enamored with the kids meal toys he sees on the commercials. I hope he won’t be too disappointed when they give him something cheap like a plastic whistle.
Happy Birthday sweet boy!
Awww Happy Happy Birthday cutie pie.

We had the You are Special Today plate in our house too growing up and I was so happy to see it was included in one of my wedding presents so that I can continue the tradition with my family!

Just found your blog through Olive Rue. It is so cute. Your children are adorable and I am enjoying reading about your DIY projects. You have a great sense of style.
I love that plate! How fun! Where did you get it?
The red plate tradition has been passed down through my husbands family. Suprinsingly, everyone looks forward to getting to eat off the red plate. We received it as a wedding gift from Jake’s mom. Find it at redplatestore.com.
