Basement Family Room Progress.

January 13, 2014 by Michelle Hinckley |

This past week has been one of the those, “If I could just get through this week…” kind of weeks.
I can remember saying that phrase a lot during college finals but now I’m saying it about normal, everyday life except the final is more about being able to survive three kids being sick, managing a construction site, working from home  and trying to find time to take a  shower during the week.

Calgon! Where the heck are you?

Just when I thought I was done for, reinforcement landed on my door step and saved me.  My sweet mom drove up all the way from Vegas in a wicked snow storm to help me sew curtains, cook a 4 course meal out of the scraps I had in my pantry and spoil my boys with soda pop, Cheetos, and Hex Bugs.
She’s the best bestie a girl could ever have. Thank you mom.

Now that mom has crossed a great deal off my to-do list I can catch my breath again and give you a construction update.

Here was the state of our basement at the beginning of the summer, 2013.

I told the Mr. to pose for the camera and this was the best he could pull off.

FINALLY…December:

Welcome to our basement family room.

Toasty fireplace with lots of shelves and a spot for a tv!

Ba-da-bop-ba-da, I’m lovin’ it!

We moved one of our sofas down, put up a tv, accessorized a few shelves and smoked ourselves out with the fireplace.  It’s coming together slowly but surely.  I’ll show you more just as soon as I can clean up the 20 board games that are strewn all over the floor.

Tile: The Tile Shop
Shelves: Craft Art
Sconces: School House Electric
Paint: Walls: Pure White, Sherwin Williams / baseboards and window trim: Extra White, Sherwin Williams

*I received some product from the Vendors listed to feature in this remodel.*

Your basement living area looks amazing Michelle! The faux-oak floor tiles and wood shelves add warmth to the overall white space. Also, nice millwork on the wall! Now this is a well thought out well planned basement!

The shelves turned out GREAT, Michelle!! And I adore how they coordinate with the floors. It was so fun working with you on them. Thanks for choosing Craft Art. : )

    -Sarah

PS. It’s so beautiful that I’d have a hard time putting books and art on those shelves or putting furniture/rugs on the beautiful floor!
