Voting is officially open for the FrogTape Paintover Challenge until June 9th! Please head on over there and vote. If my space wills I get to donate $5000. to the American Cancer Society.
You saw how we made over the living room and kitchen…we decided to also tackle the bedroom (which is not apart of the contest).
The great thing this space has going for it is that it is rather spacious.
As you can see it’s a mod-podge of stuff and the walls were very bland.
The first thing we did was install a wood plank wall to give the room focus and weight.
The wood is actually wide-planked engineered wood flooring from Floor & Decor.
Props to the Mr. who installed this all in one afternoon. I boys and I left for an afternoon and when we came back the wall was done.
The room is a mix of new things and pieces we had in other parts of the house.
The room is pretty masculine which I wanted. I did find this lamp at a thrift store that I painted to give the room a moment of energy.
The headboard was made from plumbing pipe that I had cut at Home Depot. I brought the pieces home and let my boys put it together on the front lawn.
The other side of the room is designated as the work side.
We made a giant peg board to hang any odds and ends.
I had an old tanker desk that we originally planned to put in here. We tried to fit it through the door every which way but it just wouldn’t budge.
Instead we brought in this industrial cart. I bought it from a school shop class and originally it looked like this. It was rusted in many places and had chipped paint, dings and chemicals all over it. I was going to spray paint it but knew it needed to be sand blasted to remove all the bits from it.
I had it powder coated for about $100. and it turned out great.
Don’t forget to head over the the FrogTape Paintover Challenge to vote for your favorite makeover featuring FrogTape.

Where did you get your bedskirt and blanket/quilt? Room is AWESOME!
Michelle Hinckley says
Bedskirt is a diy project. Blanket is from http://www.faribaultmill.com/?utm_source=bing&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=FWM%20-%20Brand&utm_term=faribault%20woolen%20mill&utm_content=Exact%20Match

I love the plaid bed skirt! Is it a true bed skirt?
Michelle Hinckley says
No, I cheated and stapled them in. 🙂

I was too quick with my question – I found https://4men1lady.com/bring-spring-mini-room-makeover/. Did you use the same technique here? How have the staples in the box spring solution held up to use?
Michelle Hinckley says
They have worked fine. Never had a problem. 🙂

I love this. I am going to do something similar with a headboard in my sons room. How did you attach the headboard to the bed frame?
I saw your peg board in your frog tape room reveal and knew I had just the place where something like this would come in really handy. Did you use cheeseboards for the shelves on this one too? Do you have a source for these?
Thank you

Love your blog! Stumbled on to it today for first time and I know it won’t be the last! Could you give a little more info on the diy headboard? It would be perfect in my sons room. Thank u
