Last week Tani asked me when he could take the training wheels off his bike. I was shocked to be quite honest, because Tani has always been rather reserved and it usually takes some coaxing to get him to do something out of his comfort zone (I’m really the same way). I was off school last week for Fall break and so I took off his training wheels and presto! Within three days he was cruising! We go to the park every day so he can practice and he is starting to love it. The whole process got me thinking…In what areas of my life am I still unnecessarily using training wheels? Just don’t forget the helmet and other protective gear!

We just taught Eric how to ride without training wheels also, but it hasn’t gone quite as smoothly! Way to go Tani!!

WOW! Good for you, Tani!! Actually as I was looking at your pictures I was feeling a little jealous… I love that you live in a climate that allows you to still be wearing shorts while I am freezing in my sweater! But I have to remember that my summers are a little nicer than yours… so I guess it all balances out in the end and I should come visit you when we are in the miserable cold of winter. 🙂

Congrats Tani! That is so exciting. You will have to show us next time we see each other…hopefully soon!

good for you….i am always the one to push the boys. in fact jaxon got so mad at me when i took off his training wheels (because they were becoming more of a hazard than a safety feature) he wouldn’t come out of the house for 2 hours! but he was so ready that when he calmed down he got right on and took off. that is a fun milestone!
