For the past month we’ve taken you along our journey as we given our basement apartment a makeover with the help of FrogTape.
Today we finally get to show you how the space turned out!
Let’s first take a quick revisit as to what this space looked like when we first started.

Just because you live in an apartment does NOT mean you can’t add personality with paint.
Instead of painting the actual walls, we painted two floor-to-ceiling IKEA panels with a modern take on a palm frond instead of painting the walls.
We also made a custom art piece using more FrogTape and paint.
We even painted some stripes on a plain white pillow cover for more personality. The mirror helps give the illusion of more space in this small living room/kitchen.
The kitchen wasn’t a part of the makeover but is connected to the living room.
We added a few accessories, some lighting and really just cleaned it up. Amazing how far a little organization will go.
We made this peg board out of a piece of plywood. Using our drill we made several 3/4 inch holes and cut down a 3/4 round dowel for the pegs.
The wood dowels can be moved to where ever works best.
The two shelves rest on two pegs and are actually cheese boards.
It’s the perfect little spot to drop your phone, wallet, keys and accessories when you come in the door.
We also gave some more pop of color and pattern by customizing the planter, basket and rug with FrogTape and paint.
The space feels so much bigger now that the clutter is out. It also feels brighter with the furnishings, accessories, lighting, and paint. There is no limit to what you can create with a little imagination and some FrogTape. I would recommend it a trillion percent!
Voting is open May 31st-June 9th! Head on over to the FrogTape Paintover Challenge page to see more awesome makeovers and vote!

Great job, Michelle! Although I knew it would be. Going to go over and vote right now!
Aww, thanks Wendi! Hugs!
love the makeover, can you share your source for the counter stools in the kitchen?
Thanks Cory! Those stools are actually old beat up stools from a school shop class however you can buy them new at several places. I’ve seen them at School House Electric and Rejuvenation. Hope that helps! 🙂
Hi there! I was at Karianne’s blog and saw the challenge.
Your DIY(s) rocked my – decorative – world. Loved the triangle’d panels and how modern that area looks now. Top 10 of the best rooms I’ve seen lately (eh that didn’t come out as fabulous as I wanted it but hope you get the point of how MUCH, I loved what you did).

How sweet are you!? Thank you so much. I really appreciate your kind words! XOXO, Michelle
I love it! Great idea with the mirror. Thought there was an extra space.
Thank you Evelyn!
Very cute. So, will you rent it out? Just curious, I don’t live in your area…. but it’s really cute.
