A redemption project.

June 4, 2012 by Michelle Hinckley |

Today I had planned to reveal my diy kitchen back splash that I tiled.
I have been breaking my back to get it done for the past month.
The grouting step is where the project came to a screeching halt.
You would think the actual tiling to be the hard work but in my case the grouting was the project demise.
It actual looks half way decent here.  I had grout on the floor, walls, ceiling, cabinets and counters.
I put an S.O.S. call in to my fabulous tiler who did every other tile project in the house to come rescue me and finish the grout this week.
So the project reveal will have to wait.
Until then, I had to do some kind of project to redeem my bruised ego.
I love the Bekvam stool from IKEA.
It’s perfect for little helpers.
A spray can coat of primer and paint makes for a quick and easy transformation
(although the instructions clearly do not recommend painting it…could make for a slippery surface).
Cupcakes have also been known to be really effective remedy for a bruised ego too.
Oh yeah, they did the trick.

Isn’t grouting just the worst project ever to do ,I started grouting our subway tile back splash last week and remembered how horrible it is to do. I ended up mostly grouting by hand , my hand were cramping up and dry and sore . I then tackled the rest yesterday , I would rather give birth then grout again … hideous task. I am so grateful it is done. It’s so wrong to work against gravity and I have big bold grout lines , I feel your paint. Your house is looking beautiful.

I would rather perform home dentistry than do grout work – it is just not fun.

    SMILE – you’re not alone!

You know we all think you are practically perfect in every way… glad to know that there are limits even for the best diy’ers 🙂 I love the stool!

Are your drawer pulls from Restoration Hardware? I’m looking at some that are very similar for my new shaker cabinets . . .

    Great blog and pictures. Wow!

Is it possible to put some step-by-step instructions for your diy project like the Bekvam stool project? Would love to do the same project my self 🙂

    Thank you.
