Monday (4/18/11) at 12:30pm my 3 year old were all smiles while we rode our bikes home from the park. 6 hours later I delivered a healthy, beautiful baby boy…9 pounds, 10 ounces…without an epidural, not by choice…baby just came too fast.
I’m proud to say I delivered naturally but I am also slightly traumatized by the event. With my last two labors I had an epidural and was cracking witty labor room jokes between pushes. Natural child birth, on the other hand, is a bit like the Exorcist. NO FOOLIN‘ AROUND!
You will find me sitting on a donut shaped cushion for the next week or so.
CONGRATULATIONS!!!!
CONGRATULATIONS!!! He looks practically perfect in every way. I jumped on your blog this morning because I was trying to figure out when this baby was due. Surprise!! Go you for delivering such a big boy without an epidural… you are the CHAMP! 🙂 Happy Healing!
Wow! Congratulations! And I was sitting on a donut shaped cushion for a lot longer than a week…oh the joys of childbirth!! Congrats again!
Aww, wonderful news! I have been wondering about you but didn’t know when your due date was. Congrats to you and your family on the new arrival!
What a beautiful blessing! Congratulations to you and your family! Hope you recovery quickly and as pain free as possible!
Congratulations! He is just so perfect. And way to go, a 9 lber (an upper 9 lber;) without an epidural. You are a superstar!
9 pounds 10 oz with no drugs??!! You deserve an award my friend!! Congratulations!
Congratulations!! He is just smooshy and beautiful!
You are so adorable. Natural is not THAT bad…I was way more afraid of the needle in my back (my baby was a little smaller though 7 lbs 6 oz). Congrats on another beautiful boy! Where in the world were you hiding so big of a baby? You were tiny!
congrats!!!both of my babies were over 9 lbs so i feel your pain! enjoy your new baby!
Congratulations!
Congratulations! What a cutie!!
Congratulations!
Another cute one. Congratulations!
First of all congratulations! Second, I can totally relate. My first baby was like that. I went so fast even being induced that there was no time and I wanted to die! With my second I had an epidural and he was a breeze! Sorry you had to do it w/o meds, I have to say I adore my son, adore him BUT I have never forgottent he pain. Happy healing Momma! He is beautiful!
Congratulations! He is such a cutie. Wishing you a speedy recovery.
Congrats Mama!! He looks so healthy, warm, pink and I bet he has that baby smell! I LOVE that smell. I’m sure the brothers are excited 🙂
Blessings,

Dear Lord, that frightens me. I don’t have kids yet, and that makes me want to keep it that way. Except when I see the “after” pics. That little boy is beautiful. You keep going you are going to have a sports team on your hands.
Congratulations on your beautiful boy!
Congrats! Love his name
Congratulations!!! You are amazing for pushing out that big guy without drugs!
And thank you for the exorcist comment, when it’s my time to have kids I will now be demanding an epidural 🙂
That is a big baby to be delivering naturally! I’ve done natural twice and the epidural twice. It is quite tramatizing isn’t it? Way to go!
Congrats! Props to you as well with the natural labor….I don’t know if I could do it personally. But I guess if you don’t have a choice, you better woman up haha.
Congrats! He is adorable. My sister in law gave birth to a 9 pounder with out even an IV, by choice….we are not related by blood. 😉
Congratulations! He is beautiful, and I love his name!
I’ve had 5 kids, the first I had an epidural with the last 4 were natural. But I have to say my last 2 were my largest at 9lbs and they were my easiest delivery’s. Now how does that work?
Enjoy your new bundle and try and rest up!
:)Rachel
Wow, you’re my hero! I also read “Making it Lovely” and she had the same thing–super fast labor, natural child birth (not by choice) and a 9 lb boy! Congratulations!

Ho-LY-crap. You delivered an almost 10 lb baby and he was 10 days early! Imagine how big that monster would have been if he went full term! Contrats!
Congrats. I talked to your mom at the bus stop and was horrified that you didn’t get an epidural. You have really gone through an ordeal – I’m glad your mom is staying to take care of you for a few weeks.
Congratulations!
biggest congratulations!! {no pun intended}
xoxo
Fabulous news Michelle! The baby boy part, not the ‘lack of an epidural’ part, ouchy!!!! Take the time to love on that precious bundle, can’t wait to hear more about him, and how you’re doing too!

Wow oh wow little lady! You just blew the minds of women everywhere, delivering that adorabley healthy baby without an epidural. I too, delivered my one and only child with an epidural and was having conversations and making jokes between pushes. I think I’ll stick to that (if I have the choice) when another one comes along.
Enjoy these first days with your growing family and CONGRATULATIONS!
Congrats!!!! You are superstar!
Oh, what a beautiful boy! And a big, well-deserved congratulations to you!
Congrats!! yay for you you’re super Momma w/ no drugs!! Be proud of that!
And his name is adorable!!
Congrats to you and your family!! So adorable.
Congrats – he’s darling!!!
Aww..!! your bundle from Heaven, to train up in the way he should go. God bless you and yours. 🙂
That’s not a baby, that’s almost a toddler and kudos to you for getting through the natural labor without having mentally prepared yourself beforehand. I think that should earn you at least a star or two in your heavenly crown. And you know what they say about the mothers of three sons, “They are surrounded by handsome men all of their lives.” Blessings to you and your sweet family. And give that hunk of a boy a hug from all the mommas in blogworld!
Congratulations! & prayers for a speedy recovery… Wow…my husband says that I cheated – had a natural delivery @ 28wks, so he only weighed 2.8lbs and it felt like…. a water balloon just plopped out (TMI… sorry) Anyways, you continue to be the reigning Queen amongst your Gentlemen.. Salutations!
Congratulations! What a beautiful, big boy!

Michelle!! Congratulations on the new baby. Another little man. It’s amazing how time has passed since you announced you were expecting.
Congratulations to you and your husband on another healthy baby boy. I know that the boys are excited as well. I’m still wondering will we see a blog name change? 🙂
congratulations! time to change the blog name! 😉
I haven’t read all the comments to see if anyone else already said this, but I am totally with you on the traumatized birth thing! Both of mine came too fast (baby number two came in one hour, start to finish) and I was SHOCKED by the pain. It helped that the second time, it was familiar. But the first delivery… oh, the first… seriously I felt like I understood true trauma after that. There is nothing like the pain of a natural delivery.
I love his sweet name and he is just adorable! I had the same experience with both of my girls. Natural but not by choice. lol I begged. So worth it but at the time … uh, yea. I remember. 😉
Wishing you a speedy recovery!
