10 days early.

April 21, 2011 by Michelle Hinckley |

Monday (4/18/11) at 12:30pm my 3 year old were all smiles while we rode our bikes home from the park. 6 hours later I delivered a healthy, beautiful baby boy…9 pounds, 10 ounces…without an epidural, not by choice…baby just came too fast.

I’m proud to say I delivered naturally but I am also slightly traumatized by the event. With my last two labors I had an epidural and was cracking witty labor room jokes between pushes. Natural child birth, on the other hand, is a bit like the Exorcist. NO FOOLIN‘ AROUND!

Welcome to the world Bodie Sailor!

You will find me sitting on a donut shaped cushion for the next week or so.

I too, delivered my one and only child with an epidural and was having conversations and making jokes between pushes. I think I’ll stick to that (if I have the choice) when another one comes along.

That’s not a baby, that’s almost a toddler and kudos to you for getting through the natural labor without having mentally prepared yourself beforehand. I think that should earn you at least a star or two in your heavenly crown. And you know what they say about the mothers of three sons, “They are surrounded by handsome men all of their lives.” Blessings to you and your sweet family. And give that hunk of a boy a hug from all the mommas in blogworld!

Nearly 10 pounds!??! You’re amazing! Definitely a hero. I’m sure it was a miserable sort of wonderful. Would you ever recommend natural again?

Holy Smokes Michelle, you are amazing! That’s a big baby to have naturally! Bodie is very handsome, looks like his brothers. Too bad you aren’t sticking around here, or I’d have to start planning out our kids future together! They could have been a cute couple! Congrats you guys.

I haven’t read all the comments to see if anyone else already said this, but I am totally with you on the traumatized birth thing! Both of mine came too fast (baby number two came in one hour, start to finish) and I was SHOCKED by the pain. It helped that the second time, it was familiar. But the first delivery… oh, the first… seriously I felt like I understood true trauma after that. There is nothing like the pain of a natural delivery.

I love his sweet name and he is just adorable! I had the same experience with both of my girls. Natural but not by choice. lol I begged. So worth it but at the time … uh, yea. I remember. 😉

    Wishing you a speedy recovery!
